Feathers over Florida

p1010708

As an anhinga
basks in the sun,
my raised arms
give praise to the One.

As an ibis
pokes through the ground,
my bent knee
upholds Your crown.

As an egret
stands with regal air,
my firm feet
cry enemy beware.

As a heron
searches the reeds,
my tempered mind
plays with fiery steeds.

As a kingfisher
mans the wire,
my steady soul
measures the mire.

As a commander
inspires the flock,
Your battle cry
rolled the rock.
